testnet and mainnet airdrops are sure ways to make money in crypto.
as a crypto enthusiast you’ve probably heard terms like testnet and mainnet being thrown around.
so in this article I will throw as much light as I can on those terms – Let’s dive in!
We already know airdrop is about rewarding users of a platform, its a way the founders of the project say thank you to their community.
so let’s talk about Testnet Airdrops.
Think of these as a project’s trial phase. You could be asked to join through Telegram, email waitlists, or by interacting with platform.
For example, you might be asked to claim free test tokens from a faucet and use them to swap, stake, or explore the protocol.
These activities help the founders of the project test for bugs and their capacity before launching, then at mainnet launch, everyone who meets their criteria gets rewarded.
Now lets move to the mainnet airdrop
this type of airdrop happens after a project has launched on mainnet but without a token and in some case they would have a token but then run a campaign just to reward active users.
a good example of this is Optimism – optimism did airdrop for early users and has done 4 more airdrops since then and will soon do the sixth one.
you can earn tokens on mainnet airdrop by staking, swapping, daily check in or simply accumulating points just by using the platform.
some mainnet airdrop don’t even need you interacting with their platform for example the $Pengu airdrop was given to active users of many platforms which I got a chunk of.
$Fuel airdrop rewarded both testnet and mainnet users which I also got a chunk of.
Another difference is that Testnet tokens or faucets are not real money and cant be converted to cash whereas on Mainnet you have to interact with your hard earned money and what ever airdrop you get from it can easily be converted into cash. Both can be super profitable if you know what you are doing.
